Wordle 203 5/6

if you have Norton Antivirus or Norton VPN, delete the software ASAP.
Norton is automatically installing and running a cryptocurrency mining program in the backgrounds of their users. There is no text box asking to confirm the use of this program and is installed automatically, it runs during β€œdowntime” on your computer . While the official announcement said that this program was exclusive to the US, international users are reporting it as well. We don’t know the exact scope yet.

Celebrity Death at 94

Rest In Peace and power Sidney Poitier. What an amazing actor and kind soul.

Oh. Refreshing the page shows the copy/paste bit. d'oh

Didn't even consider reloading because in my mind that wouldn't do anything because it isn't tomorrow yet.

Anyone familiar with music venues that hold open mic events or book small (acoustic) acts?

A friend from the UK will be in NYC in April and is looking for potential gig sites.

I am NOT factoring in any issues now or in future. Just looking for options in case it is a possibility.

Listed a 50-yr-old microfiche cabinet on local email list (Front Porch Forum) and guy who picked it up (on-time!) have me bottles of his homemade vinegar as a thank you.

Heist movie idea: a bunch of hardened criminal types rob the British Museum and escape. While the cops look for the stolen items on the black market or wait for ransom demands, they eventually discover that the artifacts have just been repatriated to the countries they were stolen from. The sequel is a political thriller about the international incident that results when Britain demands "their" artifacts back.

NASA TV is showing ops coverage of the WST secondary mirror deployment starting now, if you're interested.

After Mozilla recently began accepting donations via BitPay, many people started being vocal about cancelling Mozilla and Firefox and switching to other browsers.

I know crypto sucks, but don't y'all realize that the other browser engines are developed by megacorps that are LEAGUES ahead in terms of ecologic impact, and that are almost entirely built on top of evil business models?

Mozilla's only sin was accepting donations via BitPay. Please let's stop being so toxic about everything, and boycott BitPay and Bitcoin rather than Mozilla, shall we?

Clothing Question

I need a new pair of hardy work trousers. My Carhartt's are falling apart at the seems, and I want to know if I have other options. I want tough but also as ethically -- and locally/close -- made as possible. Suggestions? US/Vermont

Thank you.

Any idea what this spiky plant is?
Fruit has thin tough skin, spongey/crisp flesh (like a lillypilly), lots of seeds, no distinctive smell (just vegetative).

No idea of taste, since I’m not eating random red fruit found on a bush that given the spikes, is clearly designed not to be eaten.

I refuse to trust "law enforcement sources" *or* TMZ.

Thinking about time my spouse and I hitchhiked from Tintern to Monmouth squeezed into the front seat of a builder's lorry -- with lumber that was too long to fit in the back -- because the buses had stopped running.

Your New Years' Eve/Day Traditions Continued...

Example: I cook hot Italian sausages w/ peppers & onions in a marinara sauce served in bread rolls.

Originating in the very early 90s when I was interested in American college (American) football & lived in California. TV networks would show Bowl Games all day (thanks time zones) & I would set up multiple TVs and binge watch them all, eating sausage sandwiches all day.

Now I just m make these sandwiches for dinner on New Years' Day.

Do you have any New Years' Eve (or New Years' Day) traditions that are NOT resolution related?
